Career
I studied filmmaking at Bournemouth and after various strange jobs found myself making monsters for movies in the 1980s (see animatronics). I have now stopped doing this sort of work.
My interest in cartooning took off next, first I was illustrating children's books, then making pocket graphic novels (Orson Cart) and inevitably getting sucked into the mighty vortex of Viz (my two brothers' adult comic) - mostly working on the website and making downloadable games and animations.
Over the last 10 years I have been hired by local governments and charities to promote awareness of many issues among target groups, using posters, flyers, comics, websites, games and animations. I find it is possible to communicate complex messages in the cartoon medium, even to quite reluctant audiences. Most of these campaigns have been health-related, e.g.
