You
Alan always thought he might write something for the likes of Kim Wilde (and then he came to his senses!) ‘You’ was rejected for inclusion on the ‘Dance Your Life Away‘ album, to be replaced by ‘Broken Doll‘, inspired by Jay Aston (ex Bucks Fizz).
Alan Hull - Vocal, guitar, bass, keyboards / Steve Daggett - Keyboards, Beatbox / Bren Laidler - Backing vocal. Recorded 1984 at The Studio Gosforth. Previously unreleased.
Maggie‘s Farm
The classic Bob Dylan song with lead vocals by Alan Hull. In Oct ‘90 musicians from all over the North came together to perform at the ‘Decade Waltz‘ Festival. This taken from the album of the same name (May ‘91 - cassette only). Produced by Ian McCallum.
January Song
Taken from a Norwegian ‘Best of‘ album. A unique rendition with a very unusual jazzy solo section!
Nothing But The Marvellous Is Beautiful
Live in studio, from a BBC transcription disc, ‘Pick of the Pops 328‘.
When It Gets The Hardest & Woman
The only available live versions of these songs.
Justanothersadsong & Log On Your Fire (mono)
Two great AH tunes performed live at The Glee Club in Birmingham.
Alan In The River With Flowers
Billy Mitchell on lead vocals—different!
North Country Boy
Originally appeared on the U.S. 'Roll On, Ruby' album, and a big difference from the U.K. version.
Its inclusion was most likely a blunder by the record company!
All In The Same Boat, Love On The Run, Broken Doll, Who‘s This Guy, Take Your Time
A set of five original demos for the DYLA album. Recorded once again at The Studio, Gosforth on 8 track in 1984. Interesting version of LOVE ON THE RUN with Alan taking lead vocal and Rod on slide. This became a Jacka vocal and the slide became a fiddle part. Exclusively to this compilation.
Vote For Labour
Quirky little number, sung to the tune of Fog On The Tyne.
Dingle Regatta
Recorded live for BBC2‘s ‘Full House‘ 12.9.1972
Meet Me On The Corner
With Ray Jackson having just left, and Marty Craggs still an unofficial member playing sax and backing vocals. Alan Hull unusually took lead vocal.
When The War Is Over
A unique offering featuring Marty Craggs on sax.
