Seven live tracks from the Lads' Knebworth appearance on June 21st, 1980 (broadcast on Capitol Radio) and the other containing all 6 tracks from 7:84, the theatre company with Si Cowe on guitar and vocals.
About Knebworth: The opening uptempo number "Everybody Say Yeah" is not a cover !!! It's a yet unreleased original Lindisfarne track. Not doubt that it's coming from the pen of noone else than Alan Hull. Typical Hull lyrics with references to Lennon's "Ballad of John & Yoko". Very strong bass lines and the opening section for the chorus reminds me on "Heatwave" a Holland/Dozier/ Holland composition, performed by a lot of artists, e.g. The Who, The Jam and The Surpremes.
What else? The best version of "Train in G Major" that I've ever heard. Very bluesy. Bye Bye Birdy - short but nevertheless very tight. A superb version. Before "Parties" Alan announces Alan Clark on keyboards as a new member of Lindisfarne. Well, it lasted only one tour before the band lost him to the Dire Straits. January Song has a different opening section but MMOTC and RfH coming 'as ever'.
Tracks 8-13 are coming from the one and only recording by 7:84. Originally recorded at Riverside Studios, London, in March 1978 we do have 6 tracks coming in a typical musical style. All lyrics written by John McGrath. Si Cowe co-wrote 'Going Up' with him otherwise his role was restricted to Guitars and Vocals (Bass on 'Seeds of Ice').
A very rare piece of music, very hard -if not impossible- to find even on the 2nd hand market. Its musical content? Well, as I said... a rare item.
Note: The 7:84 Theatre Company and John McGrath is still active and 'touring'. Further details can be located on the internet; e.g. try Google with 7:84 theatre and McGrath as keywords.
