SCOOP! 2 Unreleased Alan Hull songs!!

The self -proclaimed Alan Hull Orchestra (or The Hully Orchestra) consisted of Alan Hull and Kenny Craddock (not forgetting the third band member - Kennys music machine, referred to by Alan with tongue firmly in cheek as Billy Teac!).

Recorded live at the Gosforth Assembly Rooms, Newcastle on the 25th of June, 1982. Alan opens the gig with the comment There are more guitars in here than people; but never mind!- a brave observation, which sums up his constant battle for recognition from the masses. Alan later in the gig asks the sound engineer to put the claps on echo!

Three Pipedream classics kick off the setlist - Breakfast, Money Game, and Drug Song.

Another Wall is the first unreleased track offered, a pleasant reflective ballad about the barriers that humanity builds against itself. The song is in a similar style to Alans American Man. A Walk in The Sea is followed with another Pipedream number - United States Of Mind, and the flipside song to the Malvinas single, Ode To A Taxman. Two wistful songs now Angels At Eleven, which flows in to the bittersweet song dedicated to Alans daughter, Fly Away.

A C+W flavour to the proceedings and a slight change to Alans song writing style is provided with the second unreleased track on this album Thank You For The Roses. Mr. Hull does however point out that chocolates have absolutely no connection with this ditty! The set winds to a close with one of Alans favourite songs One More Bottle Of Wine and the old Lindisfarne standard January Song.

Another mythical band of the era was the On The Other Side Band- they provide the three extra tracks to this CD: Day Of The Jackal, a very rare airing of On The Other Side, and lastly Malvinas Melody (these bonus tracks are excellent quality - date of recording unknown, but possibly taken from a TV broadcast).
