FOG ON THE TYNE - The US version Elektra EKS-75021

The American sleeve for ‘Fog On The Tyne’ uses the same line engraving of the familiar riverside scene on the front cover, but the colour scheme and typography are different. The colour has changed from the UK red-purple to a blue-grey background in the US, with the American band logo and title lettering in white. They have also added a solid yellow square on the front of the clocktower. The sleeve is a single cover, not the gatefold with colour pics afforded by Charisma in the UK. On the back cover, the Elektra version shows a coarse screened line photo of the band in black and yellow, with the track listing down the right hand side. The US album does contain a four page insert containing all the lyrics. All the lyrics?... well almost! The all-important fourth verse to ‘Fog On The Tyne’ has been omitted from the sheet, toned down for the US market, but fortunately is still in place on the track itself! Some copies came with a clear sticker on the sleeve showing a Union Jack and the statement ‘Englands Best New Group’.
