Well what can I say? It is always fantastic to see the lads down in the SouthWest and it is fantastic they come down to this neck of the woods so often. What I saw in Truro was without doubt the best performance I have seen from Lindisfarne in a number of years and at least the best in the last six years or so. 

Despite a sedate crowd who suddenly woke up with Meet Me on the Corner and didn�t look back the lads really rocked and produced a performance of outstanding ability. Starting with Fog on the Tyne greeted with muted response they carried on belting out the tunes a highlight for me of which was This Too Will Pass and Under The Promenade. Statues and Liberties was sung with the credit the song deserves and is surely one of the better songs (not that they are all good) written by Alan Hull.

As I say the crowd arose with Meet Me on the Corner and even the older audience began to warm to the talent on offer. The highlight for me was Unmarked Car, which was unbelievable with a fantastic intro, superb guitar playing from Rod and Billy on top form. Whisky Highway was sung with vigour and Run For Home had the crowd aroused for the finale.

A three minute undiluted handclap and oxygen for the older crowd brought the band back for One More Bottle of Wine sung as usual with such feeling by Dave followed by Devil of the North and a final song of Clear White Light which even got the dear old lady next to me who had failed to move for two hours onto her feet.

The standing ovation at the end was duly deserved and I hope the long journey was well worth while. Nice to see the acoustic version are back in Plymouth in March and you will always be welcome into the far tip of England. Otherwise same play list as Durham.
