Lindisfarne Convention

Newcastle, Opera House Theatre, Saturday, 6th April 2002

Thank God that not all of the 200 who got a ticket for convention actually went, otherwise it had been very much overcrowded as approx 25% of the space was used for the stage, or 'unusable' because of being out of sight beyond the stage area. The room was opened on time at 2 pm and everyone used the first 30 min for a chat during which time the 'Official Website Shirt' helped a lot in identification (thanks Edwina & Martyn Gaunt for that brilliant idea).

Naturally 30 minutes wasn't enough but because there was a tight timetable the Q's and A's section had to start on time. After the ice of the first one or two hesitating questions was broken, the session could have gone forever and ever. A lot of interesting answers to some very interesting questions. Unfortunately, too much to remember now and here except maybe this one "If you have to name your favourite one and only Lindisfarne song, which one would you choose?"
Ian: Alan in the river with flowers, Dave: Winter Song, Rod: No time to lose and Ray? Well, Ray had to give us three songs, a) all from Promenade, b) Lady Eleanor (because that's the song where everything had started with and c) Run For Home. Billy: Does anyone remember which one Billy gave us?

The auction: Very very entertaining Mr. Hill !! In all the 21 one items totalled just short of 800. As far as I remember none of the items made less than 15 (must have been a single) and on the other side some made it to more than 100 (e.g. the drum kit and a framed set of photos from Promenade).
