What a night

A great mix of new, newish, old & oldish. A goodly number of the back catalogue dusted off and re-arranged for our delight. Dave opened the set with 'All Fall Down' followed by Billy with 'Walk A Crooked Mile', 'Court In The Act' with 'Ghost' leading into 'Anyway The Wind Blows'.
Billy has claimed back his blue Washburn from Dave, who has substituted the six string side of things with an old and usually distinctive Yamaha acoustic. Talking guitars, Rod also had a Yamaha on stage - & it stayed on stage, he never picked it up.
The bands latest offerings "Jones" & 'Significant Other' went down a storm with Billy, Rod & Dave sharing vocals in "Significant". The band intend to showcase other new tracks at the other venues - something for you all to look forward to. 'Lady Eleanor' was a crowd pleaser before the lads disappeared to leave Dave & Ian for 'Winter Song' after a false start (sorry Dave but when you've gotta go!!!!!) the room fell silent for "possibly the best song ever written in the English language". 'Passing Ghosts' & a rousing performance of 'Why Can't I Be Satisfied', ending the first set with a roof lifting 'Meet Me On The Corner'. (The only time Billy actually picked up his Takamine).

Second set - 'No Time To Lose' & the haunting 'Refugees'. With just Billy & Rod on stage we were treated to a wonderful performance of 'Roll On That Day', Billy with strong vocals & Rod on dobro - FAB. 'Together Forever', 'Working My Way Back Home', then some excellent guitar by Rod in 'Unmarked Car' totally "away with the fairies".
Time for a smooch (back to Billys youth club days) 'Can't Do Right'. Then a Bradford Barn Dance, the re-appearance of 'Old Peculiar Feeling' - Storming. Billy then reminded us how he had just missed rickets & National Service but caught the back end of Helen Shapiro, 'Born At The Right Time' - a classic in the making. 'Road To Kingdom Come', 'Run For Home' & 'Clear White Light' had fans dancing in the aisles (& their seats). The lads left the stage for what seemed like an age, sore hands & much cheering waiting for an encore. 'Fog On The Tyne' & 'Devil Of The North' A great night.

Nice to see my mate Oliver & his mum, keep on drumming. Managed to put a few faces to names, Joanne & Caroline (no not THE Caroline), it was Carolines first gig & she wasn't disappointed. I hope Fred enjoys being on tour!!!!!!!
The bar was packed after the gig, people wanting CD's, books etc signed, it just goes to prove that Lindisfarne are as popular now as ever.
